Hike Date: February 13, 2011
Distance: ~ 5 miles
Trail(s): Land’s End Trail
Where’s it at? West end of San Francisco south of Presidio and Golden Gate Bridge

The Land’s End trail is a beautiful short trail along the coastline of the Pacific Ocean starting at the Cliff House restaurant and Sutro Baths. It offers a few places with beach access and several rocky cliff outlooks.

It is a wonderful place for viewing the sunset, offering gorgeous views of trees, beaches, sailboats, the Golden Gate Bridge and up to Mt. Tamalpais. There are a number of dedicated outlooks with benches and some nice areas to make your own seating. You can park for free in a lot just northeast of the Cliff House, if there’s room. The trail is often densely crowded with other hikers, joggers and dog walkers. It’s probably best to visit in late Fall, Winter, or early Spring for less fog.
