Hike Date: August 8, 2015
Distance: ~ 6 miles
Trail(s): The Great California Delta Trail
Where’s it at? Trailhead at the Westin in Sacramento
While at a wedding and staying at the Westin in Sacramento, I was excited to stumble upon a 3 mile section of the Great California Delta Trail on Saturday morning before the wedding. This is not really a destination hike at all and wasn’t all that exciting of a hike but I’m sure it makes for a great exercise trail for people living locally and it does give you a taste of the Sacramento river flowing through California’s capitol city. This section starts right at the Westin’s parking lot and takes you along some railroad tracks to a boat launch ramp on the river. It’s posted at 3 miles and I did an out and back. The whole trail was paved and there was an equal mix of walkers and bikers. It’s worth a visit if you’re in the area and want to burn a few calories though it’s short and almost completely flat.
