Hike Date: May 13, 2012
Distance: ~ 1 mile but you can go much further
Trail(s): Limantour Beach
Where’s it at? Marin Headlands. Point Reyes on the southern side.

We came to this beach after hiking Tomales Point and camping at Samuel P. Taylor State Park for a morning stroll on the beach before packing up for home. This was my first time here though I’d been to Coast Camp which is a little bit southeast and can be walked to along Limantour’s long stretch of sandy coastline.

It’s a little bit of a drive to get out to this beach but it’s worth it. There’s a great parking lot and restroom facilities and the beach offers miles of walking. It is definitely a very clean beach and not overly populated. Very dog friendly…there were a lot of people who’d taken their dogs here on the Sunday we went. The beach is very clean, no trash to be found other than the occasional wash-ashore which can’t be helped. There are a fair amount of rocks and shells if beach combing is your thing.

We really didn’t walk too far along the beach and I’d like to come back and spend a day here sometime. Definitely a cool beach to visit if you’re in Point Reyes.
