Where’s it at? Truckee River off Hwy 80 in Truckee River Regional Park

It took me a while to get out to this course despite knowing about it for a long time. I love Condon Park so much and the Tahoe Vista course as well, and far more frequently head up Hwy 50 to South Lake Tahoe than 80, but I’m really glad to have made it finally.
OK, so whoever named “The Shanker Trail” and put up signage for it, rocks. One missed throw on the wrong hole and you too may become one with the Shanker Trail.
The disc golf course in Truckee is 18 holes, starting out fairly cramped together. In fact, it’s amazing to me that they got 18 holes into such a tight area in terms of square mileage, but you don’t notice this too much after the first couple holes. I know I never got hit with any discs or had to wait too long for others on other holes.
I really like the back 9 best here, they are played on a fairly wide open area with lots of mountain shrubbery to catch and hide your discs. There really isn’t any elevation change (well, minimal), but the course plays well nonetheless.
Consider a stop here on your way to your Northern Sierra destinations off Hwy 80, and consider combining with a trip to Condon Park in Grass Valley or Tahoe Vista in North Lake Tahoe.
